Rick Straub - President: Rick has gained significant IT management experience with organizations such as Vision Technology Services, Babe Ruth and Sports Legends at Camden Yards Museums, Loyola Federal Bank, Carling National Breweries, Group 1 Software and Statutory Benefits Management Corporation. His role and responsibilities included corporate and business management, and technical design; managing numerous mainframe and client/server projects involving data base design, software design, system implementation, vendor software installation and client interface.
Rick also founded and managed Baseline Software Group, a software development and consulting company, specializing in application development using various technical tools on several platforms. Rick formed business alliances with several software vendors that opened up a wide variety of services and educational opportunities. Specialization in certain new technologies expanded the company's service area to countrywide.
Tom Slahetka - Vice President, Education:
Tom has more than 15 years experience in the field of IT. A background in research and analysis lead to a career in software development and business analysis, where his goal has been to help users solve their problems through the use of IT. For the past 8 years he worked as a business analyst for several vendors to the Federal and State governments. He currently works for the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board as a Senior Business Analyst for the Division of Enforcement and Investigation.
Tom has been an active member of the IIBA since May 2006. He joined the Baltimore chapter of the IIBA in August 2007, and assisted with the review of two chapters from the BABOK Version 2.0. Tom earned his CBAP designation in November 2007. Described as a "perpetual student" by some, Tom earned his BA in Business from the University of Maryland and his MBA from American University. He recently earned a Master Certificate from Villanova University in Business Analysis and Six Sigma.
When not a work Tom enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, and exploring the stars and planets.
Beth Burlingame - Vice President, Marketing & Communications: Beth has 18 years of experience in Business Analysis and Project Management. After many years of consulting in the Financial Services industry, Beth joined T. Rowe Price in 2004. She currently works as a Solutions Consultant Analyst supporting the firm's Legal Department.
Beth holds a B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems from James Madison University. She has been an active member of the IIBA Baltimore Chapter since 2008 and earned her CBAP designation in June of 2009.
Beth currently lives in Canton. In her free time, Beth is busy training for triathlons and hiking with her dog, Cheyenne.
Scott Speirs- Treasurer: Scott has enjoyed working in IT for over 15 years in a wide variety of roles. His past work experiences include both large and small companies engaged in Federal and State IT contracts. He currently works as a Senior Business Analyst at Lockheed Mfartin, leveraging the depth of this IT experience with sharp communcation skills. Scott has a B.A. in English from Virginia Tech University and an M.S. in Computer Systems Management from the University of Maryland University College.
Scott enjoys volunteering for different organizations such as the Boy Scouts and Rebuilding Together. He also enjoys tinkering with computers at home.
Scott has enjoyed meeting everyone at the Baltimore IIBA Chapter since he joined in 2009. Scott is studying for the CBAP certification.
Maria Stanton - Secretary: Maria has over 15 years of experience in business analysis and has worked for Baltimore-based companies such as Constellation Energy, Venable LLP, Legg Mason, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield of Maryland and is currently employed by T. Rowe Price. Maria has been an active member of the IIBA Baltimore Chapter since its inception in August 2007 and brings her dedication and love of the BA discipline to work every day. When not at work, you can find her on the golf course (or wishing she had more time to play) or helping her husband run his transportation business.Maria is fluent in Ukrainian, holds a B.A. in English from the University of Baltimore, and is currently working on a CBAP certification.
